What Boxly Needs to Track Your Leads Correctly (and Send Conversions Back to Google Ads & Facebook Ads)

For Boxly to track leads correctly and send conversion events back to your ad platforms, the most important thing is this:

➡ Every lead must come into Boxly with the full page URL, including GCLID or FBCLID and UTMs.

If those tracking parameters are missing, Boxly:

  • cannot tell where the lead came from

  • cannot show correct reports

  • cannot send conversions back to Google or Meta

  • marks the lead as “Direct Traffic”

Most tracking issues come from missing the GCLID or FBCLID.

PART 1: The ONLY RULE You Must Follow

Always send Boxly the FULL submission URL.

This URL must include the tracking tags that Google & Facebook add.

  • Example correct Google Ads URL:

https://www.yoursite.com/whitening?gclid=EAIaIQob123&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=whitening_jan

  • Example correct Facebook Ads URL:

https://www.yoursite.com/braces?fbclid=IwAR0ABCD123&utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=braces_offer

  • If your URL looks like this:

https://www.yoursite.com/braces

  • or this:

yoursite.com/whitening

Then Boxly has ZERO tracking information and cannot send conversion events back to platforms.

PART 2: What Boxly Needs From EVERY Channel

Below are the requirements for every common way leads enter Boxly.

1. Facebook Lead Ads (NATIVE Boxly Integration)

What Boxly needs:
Nothing from you.

Boxly automatically receives:

  • Meta Lead ID

  • FBCLID

  • All tracking data Facebook provides

What Boxly can send back:

✔ Conversion events → Meta (Facebook & Instagram)
❌ Conversion events → NOT sent to Google Ads

Example (you do nothing)

User submits a Facebook Lead Ad → Boxly receives:

Meta Lead ID: 743819232 fbclid: FB.1.abc123 utm_source: facebook utm_medium: cpc utm_campaign: whitening_jan

This is the best method for accuracy.

2. Facebook Lead Ads → Landing Page → Webform (very common mistake)

If you send users to a landing page BEFORE the form submission, the landing page MUST capture the FBCLID.

Most people forget this.

If the landing page form does NOT send the FBCLID → Meta cannot optimise your ads.

What Boxly needs:

✔ The full form submission URL including FBCLID

Example of a correct submission:
https://www.yoursite.com/braces-offer?fbclid=IwAR1Xyz123&utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=braces_offer

Incorrect (most common error):
https://www.yoursite.com/braces-offer

If you send the second version →
❌ Boxly cannot send conversions to Meta
❌ No attribution
❌ Reporting breaks

Why?
Because Meta requires FBCLID to match the lead back to the ad.

3. Google Ads → Landing Page → Form/Webform

Same logic as Facebook, but Boxly needs the GCLID.

Correct example:
https://www.yoursite.com/implants?gclid=EAIaIQobABC123&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=implants_offer

Wrong example:
https://www.yoursite.com/implants

If the gclid is missing:
❌ Google Ads cannot receive conversions
❌ Boxly reports will be wrong

4. Webforms (Forwarding to Boxly)

Whatever form builder you use (WordPress, Webflow, Swipepages, Unbounce…), your form MUST send the FULL page URL.

Correct:
Hidden field → “Page URL” → send it to Boxly

Example submission data:
Entry URL: https://www.yoursite.com/veneers?gclid=abcd123&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=veneers_jan

Incorrect (most people send this):
Entry URL: veneers_form

or
Entry URL: https://www.yoursite.com/veneers

This BREAKS tracking.

5. Zapier → Boxly

This is where most leads get labelled incorrectly.

Boxly requires:
✔ Map your “Page URL” → Boxly “Submission URL”

Correct example:
Zapier mapping:
• Landing Page URL → Submission URL
• Referrer URL → Submission URL

Value passed:
https://www.yoursite.com/invisalign?gclid=123abc&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=invisalign_jan

Incorrect example:
Submission URL = (empty)

or
Submission URL = Invisalign Form

If empty →

❌ Boxly marks lead as Direct Traffic
❌ Cannot send conversion data to Google
❌ Cannot send conversion data to Meta

6. Zapier for Facebook Lead Ads (IMPORTANT)

❌ Cannot send conversion events back to Facebook

Reason:
FBCLID and Meta Lead ID do not come through Zapier.

Example of what actually arrives in Zapier:

Name: Sarah
Phone: 07123456789
fbclid: (missing)
Meta Lead ID: (missing)

So Meta cannot match the lead back to the ad.

7. API Connections

If you use Boxly’s API, you MUST send submission_url.

Correct:
submission_url: "https://www.yoursite.com/implants?gclid=123abc&utm_source=google"

Incorrect:
submission_url: "implants_form"

or missing completely.
If missing → Direct Traffic → no optimisation.
